Background History
Department of Oriental Studies was established at Mandalar College in 2012. Dr. San San Nu, Lecturer (2012-2015) was firstly appointed as the head of the Department of Oriental Studies. After, Daw Win Win Thit, Lecturer (2015-2018) was appointed as the head of the Department of Oriental Studies. In (2018-2020), Daw Myat Myat Htwe, was appointed as the head of the Department of Oriental Studies. From (3-1-2021) to (28-2-2021), Dr. Khin Ohn Myint, Professor, was appointed as the head of the Department of Oriental Studies. From (8-6-2021) to (15-9-2021), Dr. Hnin Su Khine, Associate Professor was appointed as the head of the Department of Oriental Studies. From (16-9-2021) to (8-4-2023), Dr. Thandar Swe, Professor was appointed as the head of the Department of Oriental Studies. From (25-4-2023) to at the present, Dr. Hnin Su Khine, Associate Professor was appointed as the head of the Department of Oriental Studies.
Vision
The Oriental Studies at the Mandalar University look ahead through teaching Pali Language and Literature, Traditional festivals, Buddhist Philosophy, N1ti Scriptures and so on to maintain Myanmar Cultural heritage, to be perspicacious in the communication society realizing the greatest verbal and bodily discipline that can distinguish what it is; the wrong and what it the right, and then do generate the precious sons and daughters are decide whether they themselves should do or avoid.
Mission
The Oriental Studies at the Mandalar University aim to develop the moral conduct and wisdom for the sake of students who have been studying this subject. And hence, Oriental Studies Department will make them practice and cultivate in order to being about the polite and clever citizen.
Primary Academic Goals
The Department of Oriental Studies hopes to produce qualified Intellectuals. Teachers of the Department is conducting researches on Oriental Languages and Literature.
